As you are aware, Long Island has entered Phase Four of the state’s re-opening plan. Seeing that school districts have yet to receive any updated information from Governor Cuomo regarding parameters for outdoor graduation ceremonies, and our district’s commitment to hosting a traditional ceremony, we are postponing graduation two additional weeks. By that time, we are hopeful that the COVID numbers in our region continue to fall and we can have our traditional graduation with the entire class with parents in attendance.
Graduation is now scheduled for Friday evening July 31st at 7:30 pm. Two guests will be permitted per graduate. We apologize to all if this date conflicts with other plans, but we want to allow this class every opportunity to graduate as a class.
The contingency plan that is in place if we can’t have a large ceremony is that we will conduct graduation on July 31st in three small ceremonies. NO guests will be permitted. The ceremonies will be scheduled alphabetically starting at 5 pm on July 31st.
West Suite (A-F) – 5 pm
East Suite (G-N) - 6:30 pm
North Suite (O–Z) - 8 pm
We, as a district, hope that all understand the situation and appreciate the commitment from our staff to honor these seniors properly in the safest way possible. As always, I thank and commend you for your patience and cooperation.
If you have not already picked up your cap and gown, you must do so Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Once you have arrived at the school you must call the main office from the parking lot (285-8100). As no visitors are permitted to come into the building, someone will come out and bring you your cap and gown and, if you have one, a lawn sign.
YOU MUST BE WEARING A MASK.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
