Kenneth Gutmann - Principal Eugene Auer Elementary School

  • Ken Gutmann Ken Gutmann began his time with the Middle Country School District as a kindergarten student at Oxhead Road Elementary School. Subsequently, Ken attended Dawnwood Middle School and Centereach High School. Ken began his teaching career in the district in 1990. Ken has also taught in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

    Ken became principal of Oxhead Road Elementary School in 2004 and remained there until 2007 when he became Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the district. A desire to return to a school building resulted in Ken becoming principal of Eugene Auer Elementary School in 2008. Additionally, Ken is principal of the district’s Alternative Learning Center Career Academy and enjoys helping these non-traditional students to achieve personal success.

    Ken’s college education began with a Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, followed by a Master’s degree from Long Island University, C.W. Post and an administrative certificate from SUNY Stony Brook. Ken has attended programs, including the School Leadership Institute, at Harvard University.

    In addition to his work with Middle Country, Ken is involved with Youth Ministry at Assumption Church in Centereach and enjoys relaxing on his sailboat.
