Remembering Dr. Karen Lessler
Our Middle Country Family was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Karen Lessler, our recently retired Board of Education President, on April 4, 2022.
Dr. Lessler served our students and community for over 21 years. She was a dynamic leader and friend to all. We will greatly miss her.
Prior to the March 23, 2022 Board of Education Meeting, Dr. Lessler was honored for her 21+ incredible years of service and dedication to our school district. In her memory, this slideshow was shared that night as we thanked and honored Karen.

Rest in Peace, Dr. Karen Lessler.

A note from Dr. Gerold:
As evidenced by the remembrances that many of us are sharing with each other, Karen Lessler had a great positive impact on our lives. Some have asked if we could – together, recognize Dr. Lessler and her importance to Middle Country…and yes, we can and should -
Tomorrow – Thursday, each building will have a moment of silence to start the day so that we – as a district – can remember her contributions to, and love of, Middle Country. On Friday, if you would like to honor Karen’s memory, please wear purple…it was Karen’s favorite color (maybe because it reflects Middle Country as a whole…blue and red, when joined together, is purple).
The strength of our district is us…our support for one another is extraordinary and will allow us to continue to do the work that Karen so valued.
