Student Achievements

  • Established our Capstone project graduation requirement-put in place for the Class of 2024 and beyond. (2014-15)

  • Established full-day Universal Pre-K (which continued 2006 implementation of half day Universal Pre-K). Over 8,500 students have benefited from this program. (2014-15)

  • Implemented the first year of our STEM initiative. (2014-15)

  • Extended Math instruction instituted at middle schools for all students. (2014-15)

  • Began a collaboration with the Carnegie Science Foundation at the middle schools culminating with a Grade 6 STEM day. (2015-16)

  • First Unified Basketball team to support inclusivity was created. (2018-19)

  • Expanded our high school course offerings for our students with an eye to creating study that was more centered on real world careers, the most notable of these curriculum additions was Introduction to Veterinary Science (2017-18) and Entrepreneurship (2023-2024)

  • Start of our 1:1 initiative in technology, with grade 5 being the first in the district to receive their Chromebooks. (2017-18)

  • Universal Living Environment introduced to all Grade 8 students. (2018-19)

  • Established requirement that all students take a Science class for three (3) years of their high school enrollment, commencing with the graduating class of 2023. (2019-2020)

  • Grade 8 National History Day participation in virtual Long Island competition. (2020-21)

  • First Health 2 course created in NYS for students to assist with post graduation life. (2020-21)

  • Districtwide 1:1 Chromebook initiative completed. (2021-22)

  • Partnership with Stony Brook University related to Northeast Off-Shore Wind Renewable Energy Project was established. (2022-23)

  • Partnership with Catholic Health Services was created in order to assist students with post-COVID mental health stressors and with drug or alcohol use prevention. (2022-23)

  • Annual AP Seminar Research Symposium first hosted in District for AP scholars from neighboring districts. (2022-23)

  • Grade 8 National History (in person) Day competition yields winning entry. (2023-24)

  • First group of AP Capstone diploma recipients graduates. (2023-24)
