Food Services

Welcome to the 2024-25 Middle Country Food Service Program/Community Eligibility Provision (CEP): We understand the critical role that wholesome eating plays in the educational process and the health of growing bodies at every stage of development. Our cooks use wholesome ingredients to freshly prepare our food, paying particular attention to the use of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and healthy snacks. Nutritional breakfasts and lunches are available daily in all schools and are consistent with the dietary guidelines.

Under CEP, all Middle Country students will be entitled to one NO-CHARGE school breakfast and lunch meal per school day. This No-Charge program will be in effect in time for the first day of school and during the 2024-25 school year.

Menus: On-line menus will be posted. Our monthly menus not only feature nutritional messages but also highlight a special fruit or vegetable of the month to encourage students to try new healthy choices. Please visit the FD Meal Planner created by Whitsons Culinary Group. The FD Meal Planner incorporates an exciting new platform to build a meal that calculates the calories and nutrients based on the selected items.  https://www.fdmealplanner.com/

Middle Country CSD is approved for Community Eligible Provision (CEP) in 2024-25.  What is CEP?  The CEP is a wonderful opportunity for an eligible school district or individual schools as it reduces administrative paperwork and costs, while making it easier for children in low-income communities to receive meals at no charge in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.  It also increases program integrity by relying on data from other means-tested certifications (i.e., SNAP, Medicaid). Under CEP, all students are entitled to one NO-CHARGE school breakfast and lunch meal per school day during the approved school year.

Food Allergy/Student Safety Information: If you have a student with a severe food allergy eating from the cafeteria, please contact your building nurse and the food service department for assistance to discuss the "food allergy procedure" and safety of our children. Communication is vital, and we must work closely to meet the needs of our students with food allergies.

To access allergen information, click https://www.fdmealplanner.com/ and type in the student's school name.  An additional optional feature allows you to set up an account to track dietary and nutritional information for your students/s. The government requires manufacturers to list the top eight allergens on the label if contained in the food. Food plants are not mandated to put information on the label regarding a potential risk for cross-contamination if multiple allergens such as soy and wheat are utilized on the production lines. As a courtesy, some companies do list this information.
