Home Internet Access and Mobile Hotspots
As of October 17, 2022, the Middle Country Central School district will no longer be providing cellular mobile hotspots for district families. Previously distributed mobile hotspots provided by the district will no longer function as of this date. The federal government shifted funding from schools to the FCC for providing families in need with internet access.
Below are links to the FCC program and others:
FCC Affordable Connectivity Program
The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.
The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household
MCPL Library of Things, Game Collection, Cake Pans, and Creativity Kits
The MCPL makes mobile hotspots available for residents to sign out.
Altice (also known as Optimum) Advantage
Altice offers Altice Advantage, a plan that starts at $14.99/month. To qualify, you must be:
- eligible for--or participate in--the National School Lunch Program (NSLP); or
- a New York City resident who attends a New York City public school; or
- eligible for--or receive--Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and 65 years of age or older; or
- a veteran and receive state or federal public assistance.
Phone System Information
- Use “ 5 + 1 + area code ” to dial an outside number, even local 631 numbers. The 631 area code is now necessary, just like the recent changes to home and mobile phones, due to additional area code(s) being added in our county.
- To check your voicemail from a phone that's not your own, either dial 8888 internally or 631-285-8888 from the outside, and choose option 1.

Bluetooth Headsets
Contact technology if you would like to have a bluetooth module installed in your desk phone. With the modules installed, most--if not all--bluetooth headsets will be able to pair with office phones. Note, some headsets will come with a USB module to work with the headset. These will work, as well, so long as they are USB-C or you have an adapter.
USB-C Headsets
Although most USB-C headsets will work with our office phones, the following are "officially" tested to work with our Alcatel-Lucent phones:
Security Camera, Access Management, Badges, and Building Access
Security Badges and Building Access:
- Please complete the form below for new employee or replacement ID badge requests.
