Broken Devices, Insurance, and Replacement Fees
Broken Devices, Insurance, and Replacement Fees
- Devices are insured for one catastrophic break. This is usually a severe drop resulting in a broken screen. All damages should be reported immediately to a teacher and the Chromebook Depot located in the school library.
- Any cost for repeated or apparent malicious damage will be handled by school administration on a case-by-case basis.
- There has been an increasing number of broken screens directly related to the Student Chromebooks being used without the provided cases. Chromebooks are not to be removed from their cases under any circumstances. If a student has lost their Chromebook case, a used replacement--if available--will be provided. If the student/family would prefer a new case, a Chromebook model specific replacement can be purchased from the district.
- If a student’s Chromebook screen breaks as a result, they will only be allowed to borrow a DEPOT loaner device on a daily basis during school hours provided there is one available. The loaned device must be returned each day to the DEPOT until their device comes back from repair.
- Broken Screen repairs are only covered once under the accidental damage warranty. If a student breaks their screen a second time, the family may be billed for the repair and the student will not be given a loaner until payment is received, at the Deputy Superintendent’s discretion.
- If a student’s Chromebook screen breaks as a result, they will only be allowed to borrow a DEPOT loaner device on a daily basis during school hours provided there is one available. The loaned device must be returned each day to the DEPOT until their device comes back from repair.
