Chromebook Apps and Extensions

Although similar in some ways, Apps and Extensions are two different things. Apps in Google’s world are usually just links to their websites, although occasionally there is more to them. Extensions are browser add-ons that load every time you open the browser.  Each time one is added, it incrementally slows down the Chromebook/browser.

While the district does push some apps and extensions to district Chromebooks and to Google Chrome when a user logs in using their @mccsd.net credentials, the majority of Apps and Extensions need to be vetted and then manually installed by the user by clicking the link in the chart below.

How to Request an App or Extension to be Whitelisted

At this time, please make requests for apps and extensions through you coordinator or director.
