M.C. Transportation Office (tel. 631-285-8880)
Middle Country provides transportation for students well in excess of that required by New York State law. Students in kindergarten through grade five living more than one-half mile from school are eligible for bus transportation. Students in grades 6-12 living more than one mile from school are also eligible for transportation. Out-of-District transportation to private and parochial schools has been authorized by District voters for students residing in the District (up to 15 miles for Grades K-8, up to 25 miles for Grades 9-12).
Information regarding bus numbers, bus stops and bus stop times are available on the Parent Portal. This information is updated at the end of August before the start of the new school year. Students should be at the bus stop 15 minutes earlier than the posted stop time.
Regular drills are conducted to ensure children are aware of what to do in case of an emergency on the school bus.
MCCSD Kindergarten/1st Grade Bus Stop Release Procedure: Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade must be met by a parent, guardian or their designee in order to be released from the bus in the afternoon. Please use the K/1 Bus Stop Release Safety Form below to make additional authorizations, if necessary, for the safety of your K/1 child.
Requests for Private and Parochial School Transportation 2024-2025: In accordance with the New York State Education Law, residents’ requests for transportation to private and parochial schools must be submitted in writing by the parent or legal guardian to the Transportation Office no later than April 1, 2024 or within 30 days of moving to the district. Requests submitted after the cut-off date may be approved providing no additional expenses are incurred by the District and providing there are available seats based upon the April 1, 2024, cut-off date. The purpose of the cut-off date is to enable school districts to implement their contractual obligations and make the necessary arrangements to provide transportation in a reasonable and economical manner. See request form below under "Related Files".
Requests for Child Care Transportation 2024-2025: Students in grades K-8 are eligible for child care transportation. Written requests for transportation to and/or from a child care provider (private or residential) must be submitted to the Transportation Department. In order for transportation to be guaranteed to begin on the first day of school, the request must be received by July 5, 2024. We cannot guarantee that transportation will begin on the first day of school for any requests received after that date. The form can be obtained at the Transportation Office or by clicking the link below. All signatures of parents/guardians and child care providers must be notarized. Approved child care transportation requests DO NOT carry over from year to year.
