Winter Sports physicals for winter sports beginning in November and January will be held after school on Tuesday, October 17th. Log into your Rankone account to see when your current physical expires. You must see the nurse for an appointment. A completed/signed Parent School Physical Consent form is required. Forms can be downloaded and printed from the Athletic website or copies are available in the Nurses office. Forms need to be received by the nurse on or before Friday, October 13th. Forms will not be accepted after this date. There will be no walk-in physicals done on October 17th. When possible, forms should be brought directly to the nurse’s office. Otherwise, they can be faxed to 631-285-8262 or emailed to the nurses at ccleary@mccsd.net and tpowell@mccsd.net .
If your child had COVID their physical may not be in Rankone. Parents need to contact the school nurse to review a checklist before the student can resume sports.

MCCSD has been approved by New York State for the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) for ’23-’24. This means that all students are entitled to one NO-CHARGE school breakfast and lunch meal per school day. This No-Charge program will be in effect in time for the first day of school. On-line menus will be posting soon. We are asking, and will send frequent reminders into the school year, that all parents/guardians complete 23-24 CEP Household Income Eligibility Forms and submit them soon as possible (to the Food Service Office) so that our district’s eligibility for this program can continue into future years. Ala Carte items and second meals will be available as always, but they are not free, and cannot be charged (see upcoming menus for pricing) – we strongly encourage parents and guardians to establish MySchoolBucks Pre-Paid accounts for students intending to purchase ala carte items and/or second meals.
This update is not what we had hoped it would be. With a very heavy heart, I must inform you that Robert Bush, the student who collapsed Monday at Newfield High School, passed away earlier today - Friday, July 7th. We are heartbroken for Robert's family and friends, and all who were fortunate to have been touched by his boundless enthusiasm and love of life.
Sara Oshrin DMS Assistant Principal
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be an assistant principal? Our new assistant principal, Ms. Oshrin is going to give us an inside scoop. Before coming to Dawnwood, Ms. Oshrin worked in a middle school in Queens. She first worked as a math teacher there but then became an assistant principal and has been an assistant principal for 8 years. She is brand new to Dawnwood this year. Her favorite part about being an assistant principal is that she's, "building relationships with kids and helping them navigate through their middle school years." Her least favorite part is "being the bad guy".
On a personal note, Ms. Oshrin likes to dance and hang out with her family and friends. She has a daughter who is a cheerleader in 7th grade. When she was in school, she was a dancer on her school's dance team and her favorite subject in school was math. At home she has a mini goldendoodle named Fletcher and likes to celebrate other peoples birthdays.
Ms Oshrin is "Happy to be here at Dawnwood, everyone is welcoming me and I am looking forward to a great school year". She left us with one piece of advice: "Be nice to other people!" Thank you and welcome to Dawnwood Ms. Oshrin.
