Principal's Message

    Mrs. Elena Baldwin

    Dear Jericho Families,                                                                                              Fall 2019

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year at Jericho Elementary School, my first as principal of the building.  It is truly an honor and privilege to return to my elementary school roots as Jericho’s principal. I am looking forward to working with and getting to know the students and families that make up this special community.

The beginning of the school year is an opportunity for making new friends and reigniting the love of learning within the classroom.  We say goodbye to the long, hot summer days, and say hello to the crisp fall air and all things pumpkin spice. There is something about blank notebooks, a new box of crayons, and freshly sharpened pencils that signal the start of a new year in a way that January 1st simply can’t.

The return to school means a return to our more “normal” school year routine.  It is important that your child come to school on time, every day, so that he/she can actively participate in the exciting and rigorous curriculum.  Establishing a set time and routine for reading and homework can make those tasks less daunting and overwhelming for children and families.

As we work together during the school year, I know that you will see your child make leaps in their academic, social, and emotional development.  I encourage you to join and actively participate in the Jericho PTA. Be sure to keep in touch with your child’s teachers to monitor his/her progress.  Please feel free to contact me by email at or by phone at (631) 285-8600.  I look forward to working collaboratively with the Jericho families to ensure the students’ success!
