School meal debt is rapidly rising in schools that have suddenly lost access to free meals for all students. Some families are having to make the choice between paying rent or buying nutritious meals for their kids as inflation causes food prices to skyrocket.  After providing universal school meals for free to all students for more than two years, the federal government has allowed the universal school meals program to lapse. Now is the time for the state to act!
