Newfield High School DECA, General Organization, and Leaders’ Club students participate in Habitat for Humanity

Newfield High School DECA, General Organization, and Leaders’ Club students had the honor of participating in Habitat for Humanity twice this year.  In early October 2018, we helped demolish an abandoned house in Bellport; and to our surprise, we ended up back at the same house in April to assist putting the house back together by installing siding and sheetrock.  In addition, we also learned how to mix cement to install a small patio.   Another group of students learned how to frame a house in the same community.

Doing these projects brought a lot of joy to those who volunteered because we were able to “give back” to Long Island communities.  Habitat for Humanity is an amazing experience because students gain construction knowledge and work together as a team.
