NHS DECA and Varsity Leaders Club Habitat for Humanity Trip

The Habitat for Humanity trip was one of the most exciting trips I've been on during my time in high school.  Although it wasn't a conventional school trip, it was one of the coolest experiences.  DECA and Varsity Leaders Clubs got to do sheetrocking, which is something my friends and I have never done.  We had to work as a group in order to measure, drill, and hang the sheetrock.  We learned how to cut the sheetrock by using box cutters and t-squares in order to cut a straight line.  As some of us were cutting and measuring the sheetrock, others were using a power drill to drill it on the beams.  Throughout the process, we had to talk to each other to make sure we were cutting the sheetrock to the correct measurements and work together in order to get the job done.  While working, we also had to look out for each other and make sure none of us got hurt.  It was a unique and fulfilling experience because it was time I got to spend with my friends during which we did something good for someone.  We learned to work hard and listen to one another while doing a good deed.  It was truly a special experience I would recommend anyone to do even if they do not have any prior knowledge of construction.
