8th Grade Students Participate in a National History Day Research Symposium

Eighth grade students at Dawnwood and Selden Middle Schools presented their research projects to an audience of visitors including parents, staff, administrators, and members of the Board of Education as part of our National History Day Symposium in each school. Participants were chosen by their social studies teachers for their level of dedication to and interest in their research projects. These projects were part of the district’s capstone research initiative which began when these students were in 5th grade, and will extend into the high school. In addition, a number of students will continue to work with the National History Day advisers, Ms. Lowe at Selden and Ms. Strong at Dawnwood, to hone their projects for Long Island History Day at Hofstra in March.
