Dear Middle Country Community:
On behalf of the Board of Education, we would like to extend our prayers and wishes for you and your family's good health and safety. These are certainly arduous times, the likes of which we have never seen.
Superintendent Dr. Gerold and the District Administrative team have been actively working to ensure the safety of our students, staff and community, and providing the needed resources. Please visit the District website, www.mccsd.net, to learn about the different resources that may help you through these difficult times.
Over two weeks ago, the Middle Country Central School District has been following the Executive Orders of Governor Andrew Cuomo and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. These orders include school closures, access to instruction, provision of meals and childcare for the children of our healthcare workers and first responders.
All orders have been enacted and followed over the past week, and will continue until school reopens. We have served over 1,200 meals to students each day. SCOPE is providing services for daycare at Jericho Elementary School. Teachers are providing instruction through the use of technology and/or paper packets.
The Board of Education and the Superintendent will continue to address the concerns of our families and students as we navigate through this very challenging time. Finally, we know that Americans are resilient and this crisis will pass, don’t let fear overwhelm you. Let’s all face the challenge we have to overcome and follow the medical advice; practice social distancing when you are out and about, but follow the state order, “stay at home”, and create a daily home routine.
All the best to you and your family,
Middle Country Board of Education
