Attendance

Attending school regularly and on time is important to student progress. This also has an impact on district programs since state financial aid is provided on the basis of student attendance.

If a child is absent or late to school, parents are required to provide a written excuse upon the child’s return. Written excuses must state specific dates and the reason for an absence or tardiness, and include the signature of a parent or guardian. Parents should notify the school one hour before classes begin when they know that their child will be absent or late due to illness or other legal reasons. In case of extended absences, parents are asked to make arrangements with a guidance counselor or teacher so their child may make up missed schoolwork.

A plain language summary of the attendance policy is provided to each parent/guardian and the complete policy is also available in the schools.
